I'm currently looking at a Dell, Compaq, and a Toshiba Sattelite for a laptop replacement. Can't make my mind up. Any ideas here on which would be the best brand to go with?

I'm a big fan of Sony Vaio's. We have about 35 at the office & they hold up amazingly well for a laptop.

I am with Toshiba since 1997.guess it sums it all.
Very pleased with its performance ever since the first and up to date.
(all in all had 3 new purchases during this period, all Toshibas offcourse).

A Toshiba or a Dell. A Compaq? If money is an issue go with the Dell. But that extra $100-200 for the Toshiba will be well worth it. No two bit motherboard like you get with most laptops under a grand.

I would recomend anything but Dell. Dells are cheaper but their tech supports sucks.

no, no, and no. Those are 3 terrible computers.

HP tablet, sony vaio, or a mac. If you cant afford one, save up until you can.

i fix computers as a part-time job. from what that comes in, there's no best brand, all equally good. customer bring it in when it starts to lag or it doesn't start up. if that's the case, it's all software. i hardly get laptops where it's a hardware issue, unless it's a coffee spill or dropped. operating system are becoming more reliable, and company's are building the laptops way better than they did years ago. it all depends on what you want to do with the laptop. gaming? better video card. graphic applications? just more memory. simple business task? any of the top brands will do fine.

I agree, avoid Dell. I've purchased a few, and use a Dell for work. I have had the most success with my Vaio, and Toshiba.
